Inspiration

img_2174Two years ago, I attended Charity Ball 2014 thinking it was this grand dance that just raised money for a good cause. This is true; however, later on I realized that there is so much more to it than just trying to raise money for those in need. Seeing kids in our generation, or even younger, trying to do things out of their comfort zone is a major inspiration to me. When my friends and I visited Urban Ministries of Wake County, I almost cried after learning about all of the different goals they have tried to set in order to assist the homeless. They have a food pantry, a clinic, a culinary class to educate individuals on how to cook healthy foods, and charts and examples showing nutritional facts to help spread awareness about what unhealthy foods can do to your body. Not only are they trying to improve their health by doing this, but they are also in the process of creating a new class to give individuals the opportunity to learn about dealing with financial issues.
After visiting our beneficiary, and planning out ideas for Charity Ball at Fall Retreat, I finally understood the incredible impact that Student Council has on our community. In my eyes, Charity Ball represents the spark behind a determined group of people, including students, teachers, and parents, that want to create a change within our community. As this is my first year being a part of Enloe’s Student Council, I am so thrilled to begin this season with excitement and positivity. Knowing that all of our hard work is going to make a significant difference in someone’s life really warms my heart. With this in mind, I hope that this inspired you as much as it inspired me. In addition, I encourage and would appreciate any form of support, such as buying a ticket to our eventful Charity Ball on December 10th, to provide a helping hand for this awesome charity as we will need all of the help that we can get in order to reach our goal of raising $120,000.
