Responsibility

The first time I heard about Student Council at Enloe, which was from a friend, I immediately knew that I had to run for a position. Knowing all the challenges that would come my way and all of the responsibility that I would have to take on, I was a little scared to pursue it, but I’m so glad I did. I am apart of what I consider to be an amazing family and right now we are planning an amazing event that will benefit a lot of people in our community, the 2018 Charity Ball.

When I first started learning what Charity Ball was, I was so excited to start planning and making this the best Charity Ball ever. The charity that we are supporting this year is The Autism Society of North Carolina. This incredible organization works to improve the lives of individuals with autism, support their families and educates communities. Working with this organization is amazing because we get the opportunity to help out young adults and kids that are not much older than us.

Working and helping plan for this year’s Charity Ball has taught me a lot. I’ve learned about time management, how to communicate with businesses when asking for donations, and I definitely have become more responsible. It has also taught me about being grateful and shown me that everyone doesn’t always get the same life privileges as others. Just taking the time to even think about helping someone that might not know what they want to do in life or helping guide people towards a certain path is fulfilling.

We’ve set a pretty high bar this year and are planning on raising $200,000. This will be no small feat, but if we all come together and work as a team, I know that we can reach that goal. I’m looking forward to an amazing year with Student Council and an amazing Charity Ball.
