I am continuously asked the questions, “Mackenzie, why do you base your life around Enloe Charity Ball? Why are you okay with never having free time? Is it really worth it? Do you sleep…at all?” Though I chuckle in the moment while asked these frequent questions, I tend to stop and ask myself, why am I actually doing this?
The answer is simple and complicated all at the same time. I love it. Not only has Enloe Charity Ball given me endless opportunities to grow as a leader, inspire others, and make relationships with those around me, but it has also helped me figure out what I would like to do with my life going forward. I am currently positioned as the Vice President of Governing Procedures and Logistics head of Enloe Charity Ball. In simple terms, I run and plan the Logistics for the Enloe Charity Ball itself and lead a team of council members while doing so. This real life experience is like none other, and has inspired me to pursue Event Planning as a professional career.
Though I do put the majority of my time into Enloe Charity Ball, the entirety of it has given more to me than I could ever give in return. I know that in supporting Southeast Raleigh Promise, I am in turn supporting the students at Southeast Raleigh Elementary School getting more opportunity to be in the position that I am in today. SERPs work will provide a platform for more young students of all walks of life to rise and become their generation of student leaders and I could not be more honored to be able to help make that change.
