More than just a fundraiser

When I submitted my campaign form in the first month of freshman year, I had no idea how much Student Council would change my life within the span of a year. At the Fall Retreat, I was bewildered by the size of GreatCo and that everything was student-run. I hadn’t realized how big an impact high school kids could make, or that it was even possible to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars purely from local donations.

As I took part in school fundraising events like the Basketball Tournament, Kickball Tournament, and 2A Wars, I began to understand that Enloe Charity Ball brings so much more than just a dance. It brings Enloe together as a community.

The week before Winter break, when Student Council hosts an annual hot chocolate and coffee sale, is filled with students excited to have something warm to drink in the freezing mornings. Furthermore, the colorful banners in the atrium and window art in the atrium never fail to brighten up the school on a dreary winter day.

I believe Charity Ball also gives Enloe students something to be proud of. From the collective cheers at Charity Ball when the Big Five present the check to the $180k hashtag you can see in everyone’s Instagram captions, it’s very clear that students are proud of Enloe’s impact in the community.

Enloe Charity Ball has so much more meaning, happiness, and memories than just a fundraiser.
