In the heart of Southeast Raleigh lies Enloe High School, and residing within these halls lies a remarkable organization, Enloe Charity Ball. This year, Enloe Charity Ball is partnering with Neighbor to Neighbor, a local Raleigh organization dedicated to overcoming the stunting effects of poverty.
Each year, the Charity Ball season begins with an infectious spark of passion, a shared belief that a group of individuals can work together to help those struggling in their own backyard. On October 7th, fueled by an unwavering enthusiasm and an unbreakable spirit, this group of high schoolers started out on a long journey towards $165k, culminating in a check presentation and a classy dance.
Beyond the monetary goal lies something just as awe-inspiring: an 18 year old legacy of empathy, unity, and the realization that a group of passionate individuals can come together and bring about meaningful change. Seeing the never-ending hard work that we, the members of Enloe Charity Ball, put in week after week, meeting after meeting, is truly inspiring. Our days extend well beyond the school bell, dedicating our time to a cause bigger than ourselves. Whether it’s meetings in Ms. Jarvis’ room or reffing kickball games on the practice field, Enloe Charity Ball’s work can be seen all throughout the halls of Enloe.
My time with Charity Ball started 2 years ago, at the start of my freshman year, when I made the decision to run for Student Council. That somewhat small decision has completely changed the course of my life; through countless hours of fundraising, meetings, and so much more I’ve found my passion, using my gifts and talents to inspire positive change throughout my community and in my neighbor’s lives. Charity Ball has a certain magic surrounding it, it seems as if everyone that comes into contact with this organization, the beneficiaries, the advisers, and the students themselves, are changed for the better.
This beautiful, one of a kind organization reaches far beyond the borders of Raleigh, resonating as a beacon of inspiration, a true testament to the endless potential within each and every young person willing to work for change in this world, willing to be a Neighbor.
