Our Footprint

dsc_0823This is what we not plan to do. This is what we are getting done. We have the task of raising $120,000 for Urban Ministries this year, and there is no doubt in my mind that we will accomplish and possibly surpass that goal. I am a senior at Enloe High School and this is my first time on student council.  I am experiencing an overwhelming feeling I have never encountered before.  This is a feeling of immense pride and success. With charity Ball in 4 weeks and 6 days from today, the passion is growing stronger, and the determination is increasing. Reading the other blog posts, I became inspired to share my thoughts and feelings on the footprint we are creating in the community. My favorite thing that Urban Ministries does is provide the opportunities and resources we take for granted, to those who do not have access to them. Reflecting on the impact we will have on the community makes me so happy that we are able to contribute to Urban Ministries. By contributing to Urban Ministries, we are contributing to the underprivileged community: we are creating our footprint on the community.

Personally, I love helping others and making others feel better about themselves. This is why I am so passionate about the service that I participate in. The experience I have gained from working with Urban Ministries has made me step back and say “This isn’t for me to gain experience or credentials, this is for us all to join together and help Urban Ministries to help the individuals in our community who need it.” We still have so much work ahead of us, but the end impact will be worth the struggle. It is so easy to get lost in the heat of things, but once we step back, we clearly see why we are doing this. We can clearly see the impact of the footprint we are leaving in our community.

I am so excited to help raise $120,000 and awareness for Urban Ministries. See everyone on December 10th!
