img_2220 As much of our campaign to raise whatever lofty goal was set at the start of charity ball season involves door-to-door fundraising and contacting small businesses to try and scrape together enough funds to make a difference, you tend to get asked the question ‘What is Enloe Charity Ball?’ quite often. And yes, you could say that it’s a fundraiser for a local charity done by our high school, but I know firsthand that that definition doesn’t even start to encompass the effect that charity ball has on so many people. Not only can you see the gratitude of those that we are helping, but you can see the recognition throughout our community that we are doing something positive for our society. The fact that we are turning, often times just someone’s pocket change, into fresh food for someone going hungry, or clean sheets for someone who hasn’t slept in a bed for months is incredible. This is not about petitioning for a change, but acting as efficiently as we can to make a difference through the means and methods we have as high schoolers. It’s about activating people in the community who would usually turn a blind eye towards these issues and urging them to action.

This is what the charity ball is to me, doing all that we can to make as significant a difference in our community as possible, not only in the recipients of our donation, but all that are affected by our mission.
