img_6334Urban Ministries and Enloe High School have a lot in common.

Both organizations have a vision, believing wholeheartedly that we as a community can achieve them.

Enloe Student Council organizes an event for the community that raises unimaginable sums of money for deserving charities. Urban Ministries works to eradicate hunger, homelessness and health care issues. It’s easy for people to tell us: “You guys are just kids!” It’s easy for people to tell Urban Ministries “No. It’s too big of an issue, there’s no way.” That’s understandable.

A lot of times people in the world are discouraged from achieving their goals or chasing their dreams because of what others say. I get it. It’s pretty hard to reach an objective without a healthy support system. Luckily at Enloe, we have the support. Students and teachers school-wide become involved and they spread their passion to the community. Teachers interweave Charity Ball into their curriculum so that everyone has a universal understanding of the good that our event does. All of a sudden it’s not just a couple of students trying to raise thousands of dollars, it’s a united community working towards making a positive impact in the world.

We have a lot of work to do in order to achieve our goal. I am certain that we can do it, however. We must band together and work toward this ambitious goal of 120,000 dollars. People in the community have a chance to get involved and support the cause by donating online or attending our 12th Annual Charity Ball at Marbles Kids Museum on December 10th.

Urban Ministries has been working for 35 years and does not plan on letting up anytime soon. Enloe High School has reached their goal of raising money through Charity Ball for 11 years in a row. We don’t plan on stopping either.

120,000 for Urban Ministries of Wake County: Here we come. #AllInForUrbanMin
