Hope and Passion

The world stopped once the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Everything we had ever known changed in an instant. The exponentially burning light of the world suddenly got dimmer. Death, chaos, uncertainty, bigotry, and isolation replaced the warmth of the light with something much colder and harder. My faith and hope in the world, along with my passion to create positive change, slipped away.

Then, things started to get better. The light of the world was getting brighter. Signs of hope were popping all around. We were getting back in the swing of things. While my hope and passion were still weak, I was open to the new opportunities that were starting to arise. One of those opportunities was Enloe Charity Ball.

Once Enloe Student Council got the greenlight to host Charity Ball, the pressure was on. The mission to raise $150,000 for Haven House started. Passion and drive filled everyone’s bones. A fire ignited that couldn’t be put out until our goal was met.

The past few weeks have been insane. Student Council has been busy organizing tons of fundraising events and preparing for the actual ball. While it’s been chaotic, I couldn’t love it any more. Enloe Charity Ball has brought back my passion and hope. It’s wonderful and motivating to see an amazing organization like Haven House genuinely dedicate themselves to helping our community’s kids in need. If Haven House can create positive change, why can’t I? Why can’t anyone else? It’s important we all do our part in building a better community.

My hope in the world and passion for creating positive change has been restored. I have no one else to thank but Haven House and Enloe Charity Ball for making that possible.
