In 2020, my first year at Enloe, I heard so much about Student Council and their impact on Enloe and the community. This year, I decided to join and experience it for myself. So far it has been such a great experience and has me excited for Charity Ball. This year’s beneficiary, Haven House, is an organization I’m truly honored to be advocating for. I’ve personally had people close to me who’ve experienced homelessness, so this is a problem that’s very near and dear to my heart.

Last month I went on a tour to view Haven House’s Wrenn House. The facility was very homey, organized and felt like a place I wouldn’t mind staying if I ever needed a place to go. There was also a gym cleaning volunteer opportunity which I participated in, and that really solidified the overall cleanliness and care they put into the center to ensure the quality of the building that takes in so many kids. Last weekend, I went to the Raleigh Christmas Parade for Enloe Charity Ball, which was the first parade I’ve been a part of, and let me tell you it was a blast. ECB has given me so many opportunities I couldn’t even have dreamed of.

But Enloe Charity Ball isn’t just about the experiences I get to be a part of, it’s so much more. Volunteering, fundraising; everything we do has a purpose. All of the opportunities I have been offered wouldn’t have been possible without a purpose, a cause to do what I do. Haven House is an amazing organization and I can’t wait to present them with that check for 150k to maintain their Wrenn House. I am not only grateful to Enloe Charity Ball, but I am also so astounded and filled with gratitude for this organization that dedicates so much effort to helping the youth of the community. Thank you, Haven House, for the opportunities you have given me and my peers and the opportunities to kids who walk through your doors without hope and walk out with optimism for their future.
