Small Steps

I feel like students are constantly going 100 MPH and are not able to appreciate the little things in life. We’re always thinking about the end goal and never about the journey to get there. Enloe Student Council as a whole has been able to slow down and take things one step at a time.

At our first Executive Council meeting we had the goal to raise 1,500 dollars by the end of the day. Although this is a fraction of the 150 thousand dollars we plan to raise for Haven House Services, this was one step in the journey to get there. This is the mentality Enloe Student Council has been able to keep throughout the year, taking small steps to reach the end goal. Whether we’re holding bigger events such as being in the Raleigh Christmas Parade, or smaller events such as caroling to raise money, we’re always able to appreciate the steps it’s going to take to reach 150 thousand dollars. Haven House Services has the same mentality as us, taking small steps to reach their goal. Haven House Services has been able to take in kids and set them on the track to success. They better the lives of one kid at a time to make a lasting impact on the greater Raleigh community. Them having the same ideals as us makes them the perfect beneficiary of the money we are raising.

At the end of the day, these small steps will culminate into something bigger. So when we’re holding up that 150 thousand dollar check, let that be a symbol of all the small steps we took to get there.
