My First Year

I’ve always wanted to make an impact on the world. I was raised always being taught to give back and have a philanthropic outlook, and I plan to uphold those ideals throughout my lifetime. Just a few months ago, I was appointed to Enloe’s Executive Council and given a chance to make an impact. It’s my first year being able to work on Enloe’s Charity Ball and I am beyond excited, and that just makes it that much more special to me that this year’s Charity Ball be an overwhelming success.

Haven House’s mission is near and dear to me, as their values are those that I continuously strive to meet in my volunteering efforts. In so many non-profits equity is not a concern, but Haven House strives to meet that value. Haven House works to fight youth homelessness, prevent youth from being in the juvenile justice system, provide necessities to families in need, and so much more. It’s great to know that I can help in all of these avenues through Charity Ball and through outside volunteering with Haven House. With Haven House, I’ve been able to help clean their gym which they run their Second Round after-school program out of, take part in their variety of holiday programs, and I look forward to doing so much more.

As the true dance of the Charity Ball draws near, I’ve loved working on the logistics committee to organize, surprisingly, the logistics of the dance. I’m grateful to be co-hosting the fundraising Chess Tournament with our amazing Vice President of Governing Procedures & Logistics, Bella Agusta! There is so much going on behind the scenes to plan Charity Ball and our fundraising events from planning decorations to organizing caterers to planning fundraising events and so much more, but it’s truly so exciting to know that all of that effort is soon going to transform from planning to reality on December 11th.

Working with Enloe’s Student Council and Haven House has objectively been one of the greatest impacts I’ve made in the community, but the experience has also made quite an impact on me. There’s genuinely no better feeling than that of knowing you are helping others, and working on Charity Ball has allowed me to experience that feeling daily and do it with great people. Everyone on Enloe’s Student Council puts in so much effort, and it’s amazing to see all of that effort make an impact. This year is just the first for my efforts towards Enloe Charity Ball, and I can’t wait to continue to make an impact in the years to come.
