The Smallest Things

I walk in, look around, look at all new faces, then I finally take a seat. I was at my first Student Council meeting. I never thought that I would even get here; on the day of the interest meeting, I sat there wondering how anyone could walk up to people and ask for their vote. Later that day, I was talking with my friends, I told them about Student Council and immediately they started talking about ways they are going to help me get votes. From that moment on I was determined to win. I spend days making posters, Flyers, Backpack tags.

When the results of the Final Election came, I had gotten into Student Council! Looking back I realized, something had changed. I am now more confident; Now, I believe in myself, I believe that in doing whatever I can to contribute to this Student Council, and most importantly, I believe that we will raise 150K.

Due to Enloe charity Ball, I realized that even the smallest things matter. One poster can help the student body feel excited for Charity Ball. One donation can help us reach 150K. One Instagram post can help spread the word. Even the smallest things can help us reach our final goal of 150K. Now I learned to appreciate small things, someone let me try their food, someone held a door for me, someone told me I dropped my pencil. These small things help my day becomes better.

Now that I look back, I wonder, what if I hadn’t got into Student Council, what if I hadn’t opened up and talked to people, what if I hadn’t given my 100% to Charity Ball, what if I hadn’t changed. Fundraising for Charity Ball is an experience that I will never forget, it taught me so much. I hope next year I learn more.
