Unity In Our Community

I had heard of Charity Ball since I was younger because my three siblings attended Enloe and had helped fundraise for the beneficiaries in the past. I have always remembered them being so excited to help reach the donation goal and for the day to come where they got to dress up and have fun with their friends at Charity Ball. Seeing my siblings so excited every year for this one day always made me want to go to the dance, but also be a part of that excitement. So once freshman year came around and I heard that I could join student council and be part of creating this one night that everyone looked forward to, I immediately signed up. After being in student council for a couple of weeks, I began to see all of the other wonderful things that student council does. Student council has helped so many different children in our community struggling with things like poverty or homelessness. In such a short amount of time, I have realized the good that the students in student council do to help people all over, and I am so happy to be a part of this organization.

With it being thanksgiving season it’s important that we also give thanks to our community, which is what student council strives to do all year long. Even though this pandemic hit and many people are going through adversaries, we should not lose hope. Instead, we must let that fuel our fire of wanting to help our community even more. So this year our plan is to raise $150,000 to give to Haven House and help homeless children all over our community.

Being in student council takes hard work and dedication but it is also so fun to meet different people and learn a lot more about my community. I’ve never seen a more hardworking and committed group of people than the ones in student council. Our community is what drives us to work harder and harder every day. Even though it takes drive and determination, I have had so much fun and can’t wait to do it all over again for my next years in high school.
