Integrity, gratitude, privilege, and humility. These 4 words have meant so much to me in my life since I was born. My parents taught me these fundamental principles so I could grow and prosper with the greatest discretions. At first, I didn’t comprehend the critical applications of these values, but with time I understood them more and more. It wouldn’t be until I served in the Student Council and Alliance Medical Ministry (AMM) that I realized these words to the most eminent extent.

Integrity is defined as the quality of having strong moral qualities, but it can also mean the consistency and scope of kindness someone will convey despite their day-to-day adversities. Every one of AMM’s employees has to implement this so they can provide the best treatment to their patients.

Gratitude is the effect of integrity and is what the patient feels towards the wonderful people at AMM when they receive the best treatment they can at the medical institution. On many occasions, patients pay so little money for their necessary medication, which just sparks that connection of gratitude between Alliance Medical Ministry and the patient.

Privilege is what denotes the purpose of AMM. Their goal is to provide comprehensive primary care to uninsured working adults. As a result, the nonprofit aims to help the people that don’t get the necessary health care they deserve. That is the denotation of privilege, the ability to have or do something.

And finally, humility. Whether sentimental or temporal, humility is something everyone possesses. Volunteering for Alliance Medical Ministry under Enloe’s Student Council made me recognize its significance. Humility conjures your modesty to the fullest capacity, and AMM sets that precedent. Everyone tries their best every time to enrich their patients with as much humility, care, and compassion as possible, which reflects in the number of virtues they inhabit.

All of these words in their ultimate forms combined enhance the amicable and flourishing goals of AMM, which develop the most wonderful camaraderie and sanguine motives that everyone can learn and act from.
