As a newcomer to Enloe Charity Ball, the prospect of attending this amazing event has been full of anticipation. This has been the first time I’ve been on a school council that actually works. Our determination, resilience, and execution is some of the best I’ve seen, but it hasn’t always felt this way.

Being one of the only freshmen from my middle school to be on the Student Council adds a unique dimension to my anticipation. It places me in the position of representing not only myself but also my middle school, and gives me a fresh perspective. And from this I have had some of the best experiences. At fall retreat, I got closer to all of my council teammates and realized how amazing this group of people — this family — is.

As I think about my upcoming first time at the Charity Ball dance, I’m not only excited for the event, but also thankful for the opportunity to serve my community. Neighbor to Neighbor has shown me how amazing Raleigh is and how sweet these children are. ECB transcends a regular social event; it symbolizes a collective effort to affect positive change, a commitment to community welfare that resonates deeply with my values.

Getting to know Neighbor to Neighbor has been a key part of my journey in Student Council, and has shown the impact that a small group of people can have on a family. From volunteering to the kickball tournament to the dance itself, it is all for the amazing people at N2N and the impact that we create in the community.
