Opportunities are the building blocks of personal growth, serving as gateways to learning new things about various aspects of life. When we embrace opportunities, we open doors to a world of possibilities and create the potential for positive change. Enloe Charity Ball is an opportunity to do so much.
First, it is an opportunity to learn. Enloe Charity Ball has taught me many important skills like teamwork, work ethic, time management, and leadership. Holding fundraising events, I’ve gotten to work closely with the members of my committee even though they were complete strangers just a few months ago. Along with this planning, I’ve also had to learn how to balance the workload of school with Charity Ball.
Second, it is an opportunity to grow. I’ve had prior leadership experience, but nothing else can compare to Charity Ball. It’s an environment that I’d never experienced before, as everyone must rely on each other to collaborate. As I’ve become more familiar with this process, I’ve stepped into my unique role in this environment.
Lastly, it’s an opportunity to give back. Our beneficiary this year helps out students in the Raleigh area by getting them back to grade level in all subjects. I was born and raised in Raleigh, and this community has given so much to me, so it was time I gave back to it. Organizations like Neighbor to Neighbor keep this community going. I’m so appreciative of their work that, when I saw that they were the beneficiary, it could not be more fitting to give back to a place that has given so much to me.
