It’s easy to get caught up in what life has to offer. Whether that be sports, clubs, a job, or school, all of these activities take up different parts of our lives. Life becomes a blur, and sometimes we don’t slow down and appreciate what’s around us.
But no matter how busy life gets, there’s always a time that makes me slow down and reflect. For 3 months out of the year, I am reminded that life isn’t all about what I can do for myself, but what I can do for others. By sending emails, making calls, raising money and through school-wide fundraising events, I am reminded that my actions help the local Raleigh community. It’s not always an easy process, but the culmination of our work and memories made can only be appreciated if we are working and living in the moment. Memories of kickball tournaments, caroling, and 2A Wars are just a few of the experiences that I hold close. Because Charity Ball is a gift in and of itself, the only way to experience it is by being fully present.
