Pride

As I chatted with my friend, I suddenly noticed a poster that caught my attention and my eyes lit up with excitement. “I made that!” I exclaimed with pride, pointing at the poster. My friend chuckled and reminded me that I had already mentioned it three times. But I couldn’t help it; seeing the poster gave me a sense of pride and fulfillment.

Charity Ball means so much more to me than just a fundraising event. It’s about the sense of accomplishment I feel when I create and hang up posters to market the event. I recall the pride I felt when I saw the check being presented, knowing that I played a small part in making a difference in someone’s life. The emails, lunch, and after-school meetings may be tiring, but the moment I see that check, all the sacrifices become worth it.

The time spent in the mornings, lunches, and after school sessions creating posters and hanging them up pale in comparison to the joy I feel when I see the impact of our efforts. Enloe Charity Ball has taught me that even the smallest of efforts can impact so many people, making me feel empowered and included in such an important organization that is so much bigger than just me or my school.

Enloe Charity Ball is the pride I will feel when we present the $160K check for Neighbor to Neighbor, knowing that I helped.
