Connections

It was 2020 and school had gone from two weeks of closure to a year. Being at home all day, barred from any kind of social interaction, some of us came back the next year prepared and ready to meet new people. But others came back too scared to converse with anyone, it took more work to regain what was lost.

After that year back I promised myself that I’d start high school with a better start and talk to more people. What better way to talk to people than to put myself on a pedestal and convince people to vote for me?

I talked to more people campaigning during that week than in my three years of middle school. I had fun, though. I enjoyed talking to new people so much that I forgot to tell them my name and what position I was running for. While running for student council I never realized how much of an impact we’d have on the nonprofit organizations supporting Charity Ball. Everyone in the student council is truly working their hardest to raise funds and awareness for AMM and on Enloe Charity Ball. We’re all alive with a purpose.

Even after joining the student council, I’m constantly talking to new people, expanding my connections, and strengthening friendships. When I volunteer I make sure to get to know the people I’m working with and talk to the lovely people working at Alliance Medical Ministry.

I learned to slowly work my way out of my comfort zone and have fun at Enloe Charity Ball. There are so many amazing people to get to know. Everyone there has a goal and is working extra hard to achieve it. I can’t wait to get to know so many more people while working with Enloe Charity Ball.
