Impact

This year we brought back Mini Charity Ball at Hunter Elementary. It was a lot of fun being able to teach the kids who we are and what we are doing, while still having loads of fun. I was in charge of sock hockey with Kevin and Rhiddik, we set up a routine where we introduced ourselves and then explained the rules. It was a blast seeing the kids play, their movement was paired with laughter and grins; however, it was tiring dealing with hundreds of kids all day and by the end, we were exhausted. We were almost done packing up and I went into the gym where the kids were being lined up for the busses to get my stuff, “wassup Mr. Taylor” I heard as I walked by the kids. This was astonishing, to think that this kid remembered my name after all the events and information he was given that day, it blew my mind. It made me realize the impact that we Charity Ball had on those kids that day.

This is what Charity Ball is all about, the impact. The impact it has on the community, the impact it has on the beneficiary, and the impact it has on yourself. Throughout my three years being a part of Charity Ball I’ve never seen, done, and had so much impact. The events that we create to reach out to our community, the countless hours of volunteering to support the beneficiary, and the vast amounts of money that we raise for the charity are all impacting everything around me, yet it is also affecting me.

Charity Ball has taught me essential life skills like organization, communication, collaboration, etc. It has also surrounded me with hard-working intelligent people that I can proudly call my friends. But most importantly it has allowed me to help make a change, an impact, in my community.

I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful organization, it has truly been an honor working with everyone and I will remember these days for the rest of my life.
