Coming Together

In order to reach our ambitious fundraising goal each year, Student Council cannot only rely on Charity Ball ticket sales and donations but also on events within our own school. Each fall, we plan an increasing number of activities like the kickball game, Space Jam, and chess tournament with the hope that the profit will allow us to further surpass our goal. However, these events also provide the opportunity for Enloe students to further connect, watch performances with friends, and enjoy a bit of competition, all inspired by a greater cause. To me, that’s the beauty of Enloe Charity Ball, and it’s one reason why I wanted to join Student Council in the first place.

For the past two years, the focus of my role in Charity Ball has been physical publicity. The task of creating an endless number of banners to advertise these events doesn’t always seem easy, but the impact is real. I’ve been stopped a few times by students who point out that the banners we hang in the atrium are the only way they get information about school events, while others may find that they prefer the graphics we post on social media. In either case, I’ve found publicity to play a key part in getting the school to come together, which has inspired me to take on the role of multimedia officer this year.

In addition to Student Council’s role in encouraging the student body to connect, I’ve come to appreciate ECB’s focus on helping the area immediately surrounding Enloe. This is especially apparent this year, as Alliance Medical Ministry is located just within walking distance of Enloe. By supporting an organization that offers healthcare to our own neighborhoods, the social events we organize are able to not only provide opportunities for students to bond but also improvements to many people’s lives. I find it empowering that, by coming together with our greater community, Enloe Charity Ball continues to unite our own student body.
