Making a Difference

I’ve lived in many different places and met many different types of people. Despite all this, I can truly say that the students of Enloe Student Council are some of the most driven, passionate individuals I have ever been honored to encounter.

When I first decided to run for student council I thought of it as a way I could make a difference. While that proved to be true, Student Council also allowed me to find a place with people who inspire me every day. Not only does Student Council provide you with the platform to do the impossible, but you can feel yourself changing and growing every time you step foot into Mrs. Schroeder’s room for Greatco every Monday.

I have watched my peers make a real change, and Charity Ball is the most impactful example of that. Throughout the months leading up to Charity Ball, everyone is a blur, sending emails, volunteering, and dedicating every waking moment to doing something for the greater good. Not only are we helping out tons of uninsured working adults by providing them with comprehensive primary care, but we are learning valuable lessons every time we meet with a member of Alliance Medical Ministry.

Without fail, every time I volunteer at Alliance Medical Ministry I am welcomed with open arms, and the spirit of active change envelopes me. One of my fondest memories from this year is a Spanish cooking class I helped out with, which not only allowed me to help others but gave me the chance to learn real-life skills.

Charity Ball does what some would consider impossible. Charity Ball changes lives. Charity Ball is a reflection of what Enloe students have to offer the world. I truly believe that Student Council is the driving force that can accomplish anything. As Oscar Wilde would say, “To define is to limit”.
