I’ve always loved seeing people come together, not in big, dramatic ways, but in small moments that show what community is all about, like when classmates stay late to help others or when teammates comfort each other after a close game. Those moments always meant a lot to me. They reminded me that people are their best selves when they look out for one another.
Sports really emphasized this for me. Even if you’re playing or competing by yourself, you’re never really doing it alone. The encouragement, trust, and support I get from others motivate me to keep pushing forward. That feeling you get knowing you’re part of a team where everyone will always back each other up makes you work harder than you ever would on your own. I saw the same thing in the student council. Everyone was putting in so much time and work to help others, and it was clear they all cared about making a difference. Seeing everyone’s collective efforts moves me to do the same.
That’s why Charity Ball really stood out to me. When I learned what it was about, the intentions behind it, and how much thought goes into it, I knew I needed to be a part of it too. Charity Ball works to support those in need, to make sure everyone has someone they can lean on, and a community where they feel supported and included. Knowing how important it is for everyone to have a place where they can let their guard down, I want to help create a community where people feel cared for and valued. Small acts of kindness and teamwork can grow into something much bigger, and I hope to be part of that positive change.
